CONTROLS
Parameter Monitoring and Alarms
Critical Parameters
- Tidal Volume (TV) (air volume pushed into lung): between 200 – 500 mL based on patient weight.
- Respiratory Rate (RR) (breaths per minute): between 8 – 30.
- I/E Ratio (inspiratory/expiration time ratio): recommended to start around 1:1, 1:2, 1:3, 1:4, 2:1, 3:1 and 4:1
*Range determined based on several COVID-19 patients’ ventilator settings reported from Boston area ICUAirway pressure must be monitored
- PIP - (Pick inspiratory pressure) - 15 to 40(cmH2O)
- PLATEAU - 15 to 40(cmH2O)
- PEEP - (Positive End-Expiratory Pressure) - 5 to 20) cmH2O
Alarms
- Low Pressure
- High Pressure
- Hig Resistive Pressure
- High Driving Pressure
- Incomplete Breath
- Mechanical Failure
- Apnea
- Trigger Sensitivity
Ventilation Modes
- Volume Control
- Assist Control
